The second-hand marketplace Members Voice Anger Regarding Size Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has altered its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Backlash
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category than originally posted because of the remapping.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
The platform has recommended to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Updates
Earlier, the sizing featured one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, from Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Required Changes
Another shopper, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
