Commanders Coach Accepts Blame for Leaving Daniels in Game Before Serious Injury

The Commanders head coach Dan Quinn has stated he shares some the blame for a serious injury to the squad’s quarterback, Daniels.

Particulars of the Harm and Situation

Daniels, who enjoyed among the best rookie campaigns of all time last season, sustained a displaced left elbow in Sunday’s loss to the Seahawks. Even though Daniels throws with his right arm, the issue has left his season in doubt. The injury was serious enough that the TV coverage did not show repeats and multiple athletes looked away as Daniels was treated by team doctors.

Criticism and Coach’s Response

Quinn faced criticism as numerous believed Daniels ought not to have been on the playing surface in the first place. The incident happened in the final period with the Washington behind 38-7, making a comeback unlikely. It is common in such situations for clubs to put in their reserve QB to prevent harm to their starter.

“I understand. I’ve been reflecting about it nonstop, too, and, man, I erred,” he said of his choice to keep Daniels in the match. “This is 100% my fault.”

Fallout and Squad Prospects

Marcus Mariota will be the Commanders’ starting quarterback going forward, but he will lead a team in turmoil. Following reaching the conference title game last season behind the rookie’s excellence, the team have faced difficulties currently. They also lost cornerback Lattimore (torn ACL) and pass-catcher McCaffrey (collarbone fracture) on Sunday, and have a host of other starters on the injury list. The Commanders are three wins and six losses on the season, and it would require a huge turnaround for the club to make the playoffs.
