Nineteen of the Russian's 21 victories have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his first championship for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has endured a challenging season, managing just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in particular - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought three-set win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's first championship following the Rome competition and initial on a hard court from that period of 2023.

The win also indicates Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters together, so to win a trophy is really nice," said ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching approach and regular reactions on court had prompted commentators to doubt if his capacity to perform at the top level was over.

But the player has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an better serve.

He fought back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the last five games to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his first professional victory, took control to create a final set.

Moutet defended four early-game break points in a competitive third set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the win with a rally at the net area, with his opponent failing to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
