A group of ten sentenced of online harassment against Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has convicted ten people for perpetrating the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.
The defendants faced charges of spreading false claims regarding her sex and sexuality, in addition to making defamatory statements about the husband and wife's significant age difference.
The court handed down conditional custodial sentences of as much as eight months to the defendants. The complete verdict has yet to be released.
A circulating unfounded claim suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has been in circulation since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France comes as the Macrons engaging in a libel case in the United States against political commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared similar conspiracy theories about the French president's wife's biological sex.
Their complaint contends that Owens ignored any factual proof that refuted her assertions choosing instead to platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has frequently reiterated these allegations on her digital program and social media channels, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would bet her whole career on her belief that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her now-husband when she worked as an educator at his secondary school.
The couple married in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
